Wyatt the Wonder Dog!!

On Monday I noticed that Wyatt was not acting like his usual self. We've been re-crate training him for the past month and he's usually ready to head out the door when I come home for lunch. I almost had to coax him out. And he wasn't very spunky when he came back in either. Later that night, he was having a hard time breathing and was very weak.

Around 10pm, Shawn went to bring him back in and he couldn't even stand. I never hopped on my laptop faster and my fingers were flying as I Googled "Emergency Vets Fishers".

I finally found a 24 hour place not far from our house. Shawn got there and poor Wyatt was not doing great. They rushed him to the back. I guess his body temp was around 74. Normal is about 20 degrees warmer. They gave him fluids and antibiotics. After about a half hour, they told Shawn that if he didn't start to turn a corner in the next 15 minutes, they weren't sure if he would.

He finally started coming around about 10 minutes later. He could finally lift his head off the table and followed everyone with his eyes. He was under lots of blankets and a warmer to get his body temp up. It was still touch and go, but Shawn came home around 12:30.

I went to see him with Shawn the next day on lunch. Would you believe that he was up and walking around!?! It was just awesome! He was so happy to see us! He just wanted pets and loves so much. I left feeling much better.

He got to come home then at 6pm on Wednesday, about 20 hours after he was dropped off. He was dubbed "The Miracle Dog"! He came home w/ lots of meds to take, a special diet, and a promise to give him lots and lots of love! We stopped off at Petco and got him a new pillow, a new collar, and some new toys.

We will still probably have to have a few more tests done as he does have a cough that he's had for a while and we want to make sure that has nothing to do with why he got so sick.

Right now, we're just glad to have our puppy back home!
